This mask is made out of plaster of Paris tape. I cut it into strip and mold it to a base. this requires at least two layers and re-enforcement’s to the edge or it become fragile. Once I have two or three layers I paint a very thin plaster of Paris base to this. It will smooth out the tape edges and give it a more finished look. this technique cannot be perfectly smooth so undertand that before attempting. The look is rugged. After drying for 24 hours I paint with acrylic and gloss it over with modge podge. I have used thick shellac for some of my pieces. It depends on what look you are going for. Modge podge is easy and quick.
